Bob was elected as El Paso County Clerk & Recorder on November 5, 2002 and was sworn into office on January 14, 2003.
Immediately prior to joining the Clerk & Recorder's office, he served as Director of Governmental Affairs at the Greater Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce, where he worked for five years. Bob moved to Colorado Springs in early 1995 to serve as Executive Director of an Olympic sport at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.
Bob has also held senior management positions with such multinational corporations as General Tire & Rubber Company, World Championship Tennis, The Southland Corporation, and Club Corporation of America. He also served as a supervisor for the U.S. Small Business Administration's Disaster Recovery Division. While pursuing his professional business career, Bob was also a founder and co-owner of the Pensacola Racquet Club, Inc. for twenty-two years.
He is an avid tennis player. After his competitive playing days, he served for many years as a certified Referee and Chair Umpire on the Men's International Professional Tennis Council tour. A highlight, he says, was when he served as the Chair Umpire for the U.S. Open Men's Singles Final between Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe in 1981. Prior to that he was also Deputy Referee of the U.S. Open.
Bob and Adele, an elementary school teacher and tutor, have been married since July 1973. They have one daughter, Kathryn, a Dartmouth College graduate who received her Masters Degree from Vanderbilt University. Kathryn and her husband, Ron, live in Denver.
Bob has a B.A. Degree in Economics and an M.B.A. degree. He has also received the national C.E.R.A. designation for Election Administrators. His community service over the years has included positions on many Boards and Commissions, including the El Paso County Highway Advisory Commission . He is currently the Chairman of the City of Colorado Springs Civil Service Commission. He and Adele are members of Grace Church & St. Stephens Parish, where Bob also serves on the Vestry.
