GENERAL INFORMATION
To assist owners with various questions, the Motor Vehicle Department has compiled basic information on taxes and fees, emissions, vehicle insurance, and disabled parking privileges as well as statistical data on the number of registered vehicles in El Paso County. Payment options are limited to cash or check ONLY. Debit and/or credit cards are NOT accepted at this time,
although each branch has an ATM in the lobby. |
Effective July 1, 2006 all new and duplicate title applications will be required to include a SECURE AND VERIFIABLE IDENTIFICATION to complete the transaction. Secure and verifiable identification is required to be presented for new registration, new placard and new temporary permit transactions, although no photocopy is required. Effective June 1, 2009, per 42-3-112 (SB09-108), A $25 monthly Late Fee will be charged on all vehicle renewals after the last day of the month following expiration.
The fee will not exceed $100. |

Exceptions: Collector plated vehicles (5-yr. registration) are charged the SB09-108 add-on fees for one year only & the fee increase for farm trucks/tractors is ½ of the amount listed above. The fees do not apply to vehicles (+50 yrs) with horseless carriage registration.
