Individual or Dealer Purchase
If you have recently purchased a vehicle, registration must be obtained within 60 days (C.R.S. 42-3-103). The following documents are required:
A current title properly endorsed by the previous owner(s) and dealer bills of sale, if applicable.
A bill of sale for tax collection purposes and/or dealer tax receipts. Sales/use taxes are a prerequisite to titling.
A current odometer disclosure on all motor vehicles less than 10 years old acknowledged by both the buyer and the seller, on a federally approved odometer disclosure statement.
Proof of a new Colorado vehicle emissions test for diesel vehicles only.
If an out-of-state title, A VIN verification form, (DR2395) completed by a licensed Colorado motor vehicle dealer, a Colorado law enforcement officer, or military police.
If an out-of-state title, all trucks with an empty weight between 4,500 and 10,000 pounds require a certified weight slip, unless the weight appears on the out-of-state title/registration. Motorhomes may also require a certified weight slip. Click here for certified weigh stations.
If a lien is to be filed (Fee's Apply), an original, carbon copy or photocopy of the security agreement is required.
Proof of current insurance coverage.
